SRAA “Nationals” REGATTA: May 23 - 25, 2024
Oakton Crew hopes to send several boats, rowers, coxswain, and alternates to the SRAA 2024 Nationals, held on _____. The team will travel via commercial carrier on Thursday, May 23rd, and will stay together in ___, returning on Saturday, May 25th at the conclusion of racing.
Coaches will reach out to rowers and alternates, and those rowers/coxswains/alternates should confirm verbally that they will be attending.
Although the team travels together in commercial bus, we need SafeSport Certified parent volunteers to assist with check-ins, to chaperone hotel floors, to help with pasta dinners at the hotel, and to help at the Athlete/Parent tent to feed our team on both days. Please visit the Signup Genius to sign up for a volunteer shift, and we ask that every parent planning to attend select two shifts if possible.

WED 5/22: Practice @ Sandy Run; Coaches will instruct teammates about loading boats and equipment for travel;
THURS 5/23: Commercial bus loads at OHS @ 8:30 am., depart school @ 9;00am; all athletes MUST be in the vehicles at the time of departure.
The Nationals Logistics team will work with OHS office staff to arrange excused absences for teammates; parents & teammates should contact their teachers to arrange make-up work for Thursday and Friday.
Any student who has an AP exam Thursday or Friday must reschedule the exam with school staff — please contact your school counselor for details and reschedule dates.
Teammates should bring a bagged lunch and full water bottle for the drive, and it’s advisable to wear your practice clothing on the bus - there are limited to no options for changing before river arrival.
THURSDAY May 23, 2024
8:30 am: Athletes assemble in the OHS parking lot by Door 1
9:00 am: OHS Crew departs
1:00 pm: Arrive at ___
1-3:30 pm: Boat rigging and practice runs
4 PM: Depart for hotel
6:00 pm: Pasta dinner at the hotel
9:00 pm: Lights out for all rowers
FRIDAY May 24, 2024
6:00 am: Breakfast at the hotel for the team
7:00 am: Depart for the race venue
8:00 am – 12:10 pm: Heats
11:30 am – 1:30 pm: Lunch on the regatta grounds
4 – 5 pm: Possible reps for women
1 - 4 pm: Secure boats and equipment for the evening
Departure from the race venue to the hotel could be 2 pm – 5 pm
6:30 pm: Dinner for rowers and coaches at the hotel*
9:00 pm: Lights out for all rowers
SATURDAY May 25, 2024 Semi-Finals & Finals for progressing boats;
6:00 am: Breakfast at the hotel for the team
6:30 am – Depart for the race venue
8:10 - 9:10 am: Semi-Final Races
11:30 am – 1:30 pm: Lunch on the regatta grounds
12 – 2:30 pm: Finals
2 – 4 PM: DEPART RACE VENUE – DEPENDENT ON BOATS ADVANCING TO FINALS
7pm to 9pm: Arrive at OHS – departure from Nationals is dependent upon wins; arrival at OHS is
dependent upon wins and departure from Nationals.
COST:
$500 per teammate: Covers gas, hotel, Thursday & Friday pasta dinners, and food & beverages at the regatta Friday & Saturday; students may wish to bring additional spending money for shopping or outside snacks.
Payment through the Crew Store: Rowers/Coxswains and Alternates link will activate once costs are finalized.
HOTEL INFORMATION:
We have a block of rooms reserved for the team at the Staybridge Suites in ______ (a 20 minute drive from the course):
PARENTS MUST BE SAFESPORT CERTIFIED & BACKGROUND CHECKED TO PARTICIPATE WITH TEAM. SafeSport Certified Parents are invited and encouraged to attend this trip with the team. Parents must make their own arrangements by calling the hotel.
Parents who do not wish to stay with the team should find their own accommodations as soon as possible.
Several hotel options are available in the area.
We recommend that you consider carpooling with other parents or using a service such as Uber.
