Oakton Crew receives no funding from Oakton High School or from Fairfax County Public Schools. The team pays for its own equipment, insurance, rental and regatta fees, even for our own wonderful coaching staff, and we couldn’t do it without the support of our dedicated athletes and their families and friends, as well as support from our local business community.
Our men's and women's teams row in varsity, freshman, and novice eights and fours (designating how many oars and rowers are in a boat). Over the years, Oakton boats have won numerous medals at Virginia state competitions, and last year we won our first National Championship, in the Women’s JR Four event. Each year Crew grows stronger as a sports presence at OHS.
Rowing is a fun yet physically demanding sport, and our students develop commitment to team, great physical fitness, improved time-management and academic skills, and make lifelong friends through their participation in Crew.
The Oakton Cougar Crew Booster Club (OCCBC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and your donations are fully tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. Donors will receive a tax receipt by email with your donation, and a thank-you letter and written receipt in early May.
