Oakton Crew rows from the Sandy Run Regional Park boathouse, where we share space with several other local high schools as well as George Mason University Crew.

Located at 10450 Van Thompson Road, Fairfax Station, VA, 22039, Sandy Run is on the banks of the Occoquan River, where our rowers routinely spot blue herons, snowy egrets, loons, and even nesting Bald Eagles. Once spring rowing begins, the team stays in shape by not only rowing, but by running some of the beautiful trails the park affords.

Sandy Run is 16 miles from Oakton High School down Route 123 (Ox Road), and the team organizes a bus to transport rowers to and from the river after school during the spring season. The bus is an additional expense from Crew dues, and costs are announced each spring when private bus contracts are arranged. Crew can also identify families interested in organizing carpools, but carpools are not officially organized by the team.

Running is a great break from rowing, and keeps that heart rate up!
