SRAA National Regatta: May 23 - 25, 2019

THE 2019 SCHOLASTIC ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS are AT
ohio’s Dillon Lake State Park 
 

Qualifying boats will travel by charter bus on Thursday, May 23rd, leaving Oakton High School at 7 a.m., and will stay together in New Albany, Ohio, at the Hampton Inn & Suites; we'll be returning on Saturday May 25th at the conclusion of racing.  

We will again need parent volunteers to chaperone hotel rooms and to help at the Chuck Wagon tent to feed our team.  If you are attending please sign up for TWO shifts - SIGNUP GENIUS LINK COMING SOON

TEAM SCHEDULE:

WED 5/22:  Practice @ Sandy Run; Coaches will instruct teammates about loading boats and equipment for travel; Chuckwagon will be packed and prepped for travel.

THURS 5/23:  CHARTER BUS load at OHS @ 6:45 am for 7 am departure; all athletes MUST be on the bus at time of departure.  Athletes will be traveling according to assigned buses, and please don't ask to switch buses.

VP-Membership Mona Jarrah will work with OHS office staff to arrange excused absences for teammates; Parents & teammates should contact their teachers to arrange make-up work for Thursday and Friday.

Any student who has an AP exam Thursday or Friday must reschedule the exam with school staff — please contact your school counselor for details and reschedule dates. 
 
Teammates should bring a bagged lunch and full water bottle for the ride, with rowing clothing readily available for changing before river arrival.
6:45 am - LOAD BUSES AT OHS

7 am to 3:00 pm:  Travel to Dillon Lake State Park, rig boats
3:00 to 7:00 pm: Practice runs on water; reload buses for hotel
7:00 - 8:00 pm:  Check-in at hotel
8:00 - 9:00 pm: Pasta dinner for team @ hotel —

FRI 5/24: **Departure times based on regatta schedule
11:30 - 1:30: Lunch at Chuck Wagon Tent @ Regatta
RETURN TO HOTEL at end of racing

LIGHTS OUT @ 10:00 pm

SAT 5/25: Semi-Finals & Finals for progressing boats; Schedule and return home time TBD depending on team events. We will make one stop for a quick dinner on the way home if needed.

COST:

$310 per teammate: Students will be traveling by two charter buses; cost covers transportation, hotel, Thursday & Friday pasta dinners, food from the Chuck Wagon at the regatta Friday & Saturday.
Students may wish to bring additional spending money for shopping or outside snacks after they are done racing, and for a dinner stop on the way home on Saturday.

THE FOLLOWING FORMS ARE REQUIRED FOR SRAAs:

Forms should be placed in the Oakton Crew mailbox in the Activities Office at school (Room 173) no later than the end of the school day on MONDAY, May 20.  Hard copies of the forms are required, so please do not email them. If you would like to pay by check instead of credit card, please contact Mona Jarrah (membership@oaktoncrew.com) to make arrangements.
