Oakton Rower's impress at 2011 Mid-Atlantic Erg Sprints
With about a month before on-the-water practices begin, members of Oakton Crew team descended on TC Williams HS and the annual Mid-Atlantic Erg Sprints. The Mid-Atlantic Erg Sprints is billed as largest U.S. satellite indoor rowing event (http://oldtownalexandria.patch.com/).
Members of Oakton Crew participated in 19 events ranging from 500M to 2000M and are categorized by age and one of two weight classes (in some cases).

Oakton Sophomore, Andrew Falter brought home 2 medals (Men’s 15yr 1500M – 2nd Place and the Men’s 13-19yrs 500 Sprint – 1st Place). In addition, there were some other outstanding Oakton medalists include Michael Becker – 2nd Place Mens 16yr 1500M, Jessica Smith Womens 13-19 500M – 2nd Place, and Ryan Mulreany 3rd Place Men’s 13-19 500M.

Overall, Oakton Rowers finished in the Top 10 in 14 of the 19 events entered (with the others very close to 10th, as well). For each of the age-group categories, on average, the mens and womens rowers beat 80% of the rower's in their categories. Some of the race categories for the 1500M or 2000M had more than 60 participants, which shows the strength and in some cases depth of Oakton Crew.

Special thanks to Oakton Rower's, Janine Crossman, Hannah Nelson and Jordon Dawson who supported their teammates as race coxswains encouraging them every stroke of the way. Also, special thanks to the Oakton Coaches who came out and supported the rower's as well as placed very well in their race categories, too.

Congrats to all Oakton Rower's.
