A. J. Cornelius
The A. J. Cornelius was generously provided by an anonymous donor for the 2006 season.
A. J. "Jack" Cornelius was a father, husband, and an avid outdoorsman known throughout his close knit community in central Pennsylvania as a person dedicated to the welfare and guidance of youth in the area. He was
a lieutenant in the Army Air Corp and served his country in WWII as a navigator. In his dedication to public service, he started the first Boy Scout troop in his hometown and was known as a person who was always there to teach children how to bait a fishing hook, do basic carpentry, pitch a tent, or just lend a listening ear. His love of nature was reflected in the countless hours he spent outdoors fishing, boating, camping and hiking. The A. J. Cornelius has been donated to Oakton High School in loving memory of Jack, the legacy he left and his spirit that remains among the many lives he touched.
With the addition of the A. J. Cornelius to Oakton High School’s rowing arsenal, Mr. Cornelius’ spirit, energy and passion for life and living are present in the still waters of Virginia’s Occoquan River
