Program Overview: Join us for
our annual summer rowing camps on the Occoquan River! This year,
we’re offering three different four week sessions for kids to choose
from. Camps are available for beginners and intermediate level
rowers and coxswains. These Camps are open to all area high school
and junior high school kids. All camp sessions meet from 6 -
8pm Monday – Thursday.
Goal: To develop
individual rowing skills and enable campers to become skilled in
adding speed to an eight or four. Boats will be based on skill and
boat moving ability with an effort to mix different schools into
each boat. Discussions will be held on how to develop a higher level
of strength/fitness to improve individual 'boat moving'
ability.
Registration Information: Kids are encouraged
to participate in multiple sessions. The initial cost of the camp is
$400, which covers four weeks or 16 camp sessions. Every
effort will be made to make up any days that are canceled due to
weather (this may cause us to practice on Saturday mornings to make
up lost sessions). Experienced coxswains will be given admission
for only $50 per session. Rowers will be given the option of
purchasing additional 1 week sessions at the cost of $75 per
week after the first block of 4 weeks has been paid
for.
Summer Vacations: If camp participants miss
practice sessions because of family vacations, they will be allowed
to make up the missed practices during a later session if capacity
allows. Please contact the camp administrator in advance if you plan
to miss practices due to a family vacation.
