Varsity Women's Coach

Dane is a student at George Mason and is on their crew team. This is his third year of coaching for Oakton.

I'm involved in coaching rowing because I received so much from being part of a great team at NAVY. I rowed as a heavyweight rower at the Naval Academy for three years (Varsity).

(Coach Callahan, continued)

I am from Buffalo, NY, born and raised.

I have coached novice boys at Canisius High School (Buffalo) while teaching there from 2001-2003. The CHS novices placed 6th at Nationals in 2002. While teaching in the public school system in Buffalo, I coached the Nardin Academy Girls Rowing team (Varsity) during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. The highlight of our season was being invited (1 of 18) crews to the 2006 Youth National Championship in Cincinnatti (lightweight 8 and Senior 4). I headed the Development camp at the West Side Rowing Club during the summer of 2004 and 2005.

I also coached football for three years in Buffalo. (2 at CHS and one at North Tonawanda)

While a student at Canisius High School I played football for four years, swam for four years, and ran track for two years. I was a senior captain of my Football and Swimming teams.

After the Naval Academy, I served as a division officer on 2 ships out of San Diego. I was in Medical Sales in Buffalo and Washington, DC/No. VA from 1995-2001.

Coach Tom Bennett
Novice Women's Coach

Geoff is a student at George Mason and is on their crew team. This is his second year of coaching for Oakton.

Tom Bennett served as Head Coach of Oakton Cougar Crew for three years and moved to Assistant Coach after his son Chris graduated.

Coach Bennett first rowed at Navy in the mid-'70s and now rows with the Occoquan Boat Club. He enjoys watching the team develop boat speed over the course of the season, and is especially happy to have several former Oakton rowers and coxswains on college crews, after getting their start with Oakton Crew.
